Project Description

The slopes of a section of the Inter-American Route CA08W, Santa Clara, La Cuchilla, El Salvador, presented a high potential for instability. In order to preserve the safety of vehicular traffic on the route, Rodio Swissboring stabilizated the slopes in the upper section of the road to avoid eventual landslides.

Solution

The slope stabilization was carried out by installing hexagonal torsion meshes anchored to the slopes with bolts up to 6m in length. Likewise, a shotcrete wall was built with passive bolts and loop barriers were installed at the foot of the slope. Under a high complexity, the works were carried out maintaining the vehicular traffic of the route.
